October 5-6, 2019 - Cissy Bailey Smith of Gentle Pursuits
Cissy will be here to lecture on Scottish samplers. The lecture is available to all members at no cost.  Location:  TBD On Sunday the 6th, she will be teaching a small sewing shoe project.  Price for the project is TBD.

2019 TBD - Janeanne Sleeman Canvas class
Janeanne will be returning to duClay to teach a cute little Santa that will be slightly resized to fit in the acrylic boxes many of us purchased.  Class size is VERY limited and may be at max capacity.  Contact Melody today!

Travel to Palm Coast to stitch at the Pine Lakes Golf Club with Cathy R of The Inspired Needle who will be in the area on vacation.  No fee, Lunch will be at the Club at your cost.

February/March 2019 - 1st Saturday of the Month - Bargello Pincushion
Kit cost with all materials to finish is $5.  Please let Loretta and/or Barb know if you'd like to reserve a kit.  We will stitch in February and do the finishing in March.

Join us for a one day stitch in at Mandarin Masonic Lodge.  Please bring a potluck item and $5 to offset the Lodge rental.

August 25, 2018 - Janeann Sleeman Returns!
Janeann will be teaching a small witch canvas that will fit in a tote bag or the acrylic box that some purchased for the Blue Bunny project in 2017.  Space is very limited.

Cost of the retreat is $100 and includes one lunch.  We have blocked rooms for a discounted price.  You will need to contact the facility directly for a room reservation.  No refunds after 7/1/2018.

March 3, 2018 - Folded Flower Pin
Pat will teach us how to make her beautiful folded fabric flower pin which using just a few charm squares.  There is a small cost for supplies

February 23-25, 2018 Betsy Morgan Class - Swan Bower and Maria Katarin's Stitching Reticule  Class is full.
Classes will cover three days and lunches will be included.  Pre-stitching is required but is minimal.  These are the same projects being taught at The Attic. We are so fortunate to host Betsy as she has announced her impending retirement. 



February 11, 2018 - Stitch in Public Day
We will be meeting at Cinnamon's Quilt Shop to Stitch in Public and will have a small exhibit of our finest needlework.  Our goal is to promote the needle arts and as a result, would like to have a wide variety of skill levels and types of work displayed and being worked on by our members.

September 16-17, 2017 Two Days with Catherine Theron
Catherine will instruct on two of her teaching projects.  One is a brand new teaching piece - the Wee Sampler Case which is mostly over 1 on 32ct linen using overdyed threads.  The Quaker Sewing Set is on 25ct linen and includes a number of stitches with the Florentine (over 4 threads) exterior of the case.  This project is in DMC.  duClay member cost and Non-duClay member cost and location: TBD.  Class size limited.  Please let Melody know to reserve your spot in the classroom.

June 3, 2017 - Stitch the Day Away!
Our annual Stitch In will take place at the Downtown Library in Fernandina Beach this year.  Lunch will be on our own at any of the quaint local restaurants that are a short walk away.  If you'd like to make a weekend of it, we'll have a list of suggested B&B's and hotels in the area.

May 6, 2017 - Box Finishing Workshop for the Chessie and Me Boxes
Facilitated by our own Linda F. this workshop will focus on the finishing of the Chessie and Me book boxes.  There are many designs to choose from.  The box comes in two different sizes - one to accommodate the design stitched on 16ct aida/32ct linen or the one for 35ct linen option.  We are going to be placing a group order for the boxes so Melody needs to know if you want the larger or smaller box.  We will be painting our boxes at the meeting in April.
Cost TBD but expected to be $10 or less plus the cost of the boxes.

April 8, 2017 - Blue Bunny Needlepoint Class
Janeann Sleeman will be dressing up this adorable spring bunny for us!  We saw the canvas last summer and quite a few of you said you'd love a class.  Janeann is currently working on developing the stitch guide.  Cost TBD, canvas is $70, teaching fee $60 plus the cost of threads and lunch.  Janeann limits her classes to 8 so a non-refundable deposit of $60 is required.  Contact Melody ASAP as the class is close to full.

February 4, 2017 - Taste of Crewel with Linda Dean
Lecture on crewel and taste of workshop presented by EGA Master Craftsman  on Crewel Linda Dean, Canopy Oaks Chapter. In celebration of  our visit with Linda we will be having a light luncheon at 11 catered by Brenda at the Bensel House, cost pp $15. RSVP required for:  optional luncheon, lecture, and “taste of crewel”.  May do 1 or all 3.  Location for Crewel class and Business Meeting starting at 12:30 - Willowbranch Library

December 10, 2016 - Annual Christmas Luncheon & WIP Challenge Year End Display
A Christmas tea will be held at the Over the Second Cup Tearoom inside The Basketique Gift Shop.  Cost will be $25pp and will include a multi course tea luncheon.  Seating will be limited to 25 so please sign up early to reserve your place.  After tea, we will move to our normal meeting location where we will have room for our Challenge display and can welcome guests.  Plan to stitch and share Christmas cheer with friends.  
Tea is full.  See Melody for wait listing.  Plenty of room at 1 at our normal location for stitching and sharing.

November 5, 2016 - Special Guest, Kathy Rees

Kathy Rees of Needle Delights will be visiting with us and bringing some new designs.  She will be giving a presentation also.  For anyone who is interested in lunch, we will be going to Cozy Tea in Five Points.  Note:  RSVP required.  Meeting Location Willowbranch Library.  Business meeting delayed until 12:30.

October 1, 2016 - Taste of Victorian Cross Stitch
Led by Melody and Suzy, this "Taste of" will focus on the needlework of Martha Washington and will include a small charted canvas reproduction using Appleton wool.  Kit Fee:  $2

August 6, 2016 - Taste of Pin Drum Finishing Workshop
Workshop led by Carol P on  how to finish a Pin Drum.  Supply list and cost is TBD.  In the meantime, stitch a pin drum on linen, evenweave or Aida (this is not suited for canvas).

July 29 - 31, 2016 - First Annual Retreat
In lieu of our Annual Stitch In at Westminster Woods, this year we are ramping it up and hosting a stitching retreat in beautiful Sebring, FL.  Cost is $50 per duClay member which includes use of the facilities and a luncheon on Saturday.  We have reserved a block of rooms at a special rate and you will need to reserve your room directly with the facility.  For more details, please see Melody's Activity Calendar or contact her directly.  

July 9, 2016 - Easter Egg Needlepoint Class with JaneAnne Sleeman

We are excited to announce that JaneAnne will be back again to teach - this time a darling stand up Easter Egg.  Cost is anticipated to be between $235-$290 depending on kit costs (duClay is putting the kit together) + the cost of lunch.  Please contact Melody for details.

The Nashville Market was held recently and many of our members purchased items released.  Bring any new purchases from Market, online classes, shop classes, club of the month, etc to show to your fellow Chapter members.  Enabling at its finest!T

March 19, 2016 - Annual Spring Tea and Stitching
This year we will spend our entire day at the Bensel House.  Please bring your tea cups and pots and a selection of tea to share.  Brenda from Fancy J will be providing tea fare.  Cost is $15.

March 13, 2016 - Taste of Paper Piecing
Workshop to be led by Denise Harkins on English Paper Piecing.  We will be embellishing a small clock with hexagons.  We will learn the basics which will enable us to move on to other larger projects.  Kit cost is $5.

February 5, 2016 - Taste of Hardanger Workshop
Workshop to be led by JoyceAnne.  Kit provided at no charge to members.

December 12, 2015 - Annual Christmas Celebration
We'll be having our annual Christmas luncheon and celebration at the historic Bensel House.  Lunch will be catered by Brenda/The Fancy J.  This year we are having an exchange of a small stitched item.  Participation is not required.  We'll also be having our 2015 WIP Challenge drawing and an exhibit of our projects completed through the year.  This is always one of the enjoyed social gatherings of the year! Cost of lunch only.

November 7, 2015 - Taste of Needlework Stands
Our members are going to bring their needlework stand and share with us what they like and dislike about them - whether they be tabletop, lap or floor models.  Each stand will be set up with some linen with a needle and thread so members can sit an stitch a bit to get a "taste of" each stand.  No cost.

October 3, 2015 - New Way to Make Cording with Ellen
Ellen is going to show us a new way to make twisted cording.  Please bring #12 perle cotton in your choice of colors along with a cording drill if you have one.  If you have a used gift card, please bring that as it will be used to make a tassel.  No cost.

September 26, 2015 - Kathy Rees
We have Kathy Rees, counted canvas designer and owner of Needle Delights Designs coming for a meet and greet /reception/ stitch in at the Bensel House from 11-4.  There will be finger foods complements of duClay and catered by Brenda of Fancy J.  Please RSVP if you plan to attend.  We are inviting the local ANG chapter to attend as well.  We are also looking at Kathy's designs with the idea of doing one of them for a canvas SAL in 2016. 

September 19 and 20, 2015 - Along the River James with Lauren Sauer
REGISTRATION IS CLOSED
Our chapter is pleased to host Lauren Sauer for Along the River James.  Lauren is a nationally recognized teacher and we're pleased to have her visit our Chapter.  The two day class, kit, and catered lunches for both days will be $300.  Lauren allows members to ghost the class if they are away members.  Final payment is due in July.


August 1, 2015 - Taste of Workshop with Katie Puckett of KISS Wool Studio

We'll be making a pincushion in the style of Sue Spargo.  The top of the pincushion will be embellished with surface embroidery, button, beads, etc.  We will offer a low cost kit and you'll need to bring some basic supplies.  Contact Melody to ensure you have a spot!  $5 kit fee.

For those of you who haven't taken a class with JaneAnn, it's a real treat and lots of great tips will be shared!  Lunch will be catered.  9-4pm  Class instruction, kit, and lunch $218 + $5 if you need stretcher bars.  The class kit includes a large variety of silks, wool, and metallics.




June 6, 2015 - Our Annual Summer Stitch In at Westminster Woods
It's time for our summer stitch in!  It's an all day event from 10-4 with lunch ($10) served.  Bring show and tell.  This year we're also having a stash sale as a fundraiser for the Chapter.  Bring any stash you'd like to sell and bring your checkbook/cash for shopping!

August 2, 2014 – A Taste of the Queen Stitch
Member and VP/Membership Linda will be leading a class focusing on the queen stitch.  Linda will show us her tricks for executing the perfect queen stitch and we will be making a beautiful Queen Stitch Scissor Case by Carolyn Standing Webb. We will distributed the supply list at the June Summer Stitch in as members will be providing their own linen, threads and needle.  It has a number of color suggestions and can be stitched in any threads you choose or you can follow Carolyn’s color suggestions.  There is no charge for this workshop.  Please contact Melody to let her know you're attending.  If you're an away member and want to get this class Info, please contact Melody so you can stitch along with us virtually.  Plans are to work on assembling the scissor case later in the fall. No cost.

June 28, 2014 – Dazzling Delight needlepoint class with Janeann Sleeman
The kits have arrived and they are gorgeous!!!  So many pretty beads and bobbles and beautiful overdyed threads.  The class will be a 6 hr class with a break for lunch.  The class hours will be 9:00 till 4:30 at the Bensel House.  We have 5 members participating and Jan Clark our SR Director will be joining us for this class.  Anyone having second thoughts about not attending this class opportunity, please contact Melody – we might still be able to work something out.

June 7, 2014 – Our Annual Summer Stitch at Westminster Woods

September 21-22, 2013 - Jane Timmers Workshop

We are excited and honored to welcome Jane Timmers of Fancy Work on September 21 and 22nd, 2013.  Jane will be teaching her beautiful Shakespeare's Garden Sweet Bag to our Chapter.  For those fans of Jane's work - you may notice that her website is no longer active.  She has scaled back on designing and teaching and this is a rare opportunity to get this wonderful , competent and knowledgeable lady for a class. 

For those of you coming from out of town, The Riverdale Inn, a historic B&B,  has offered us a special rate.  The class fee of $250 ($275 for non-members) includes a full kit, teaching fee and two lovely lunches.  $100 is due by the end of June and the remaining balance by the end of August.   Limited space is available on the class roster.  If interested please contact Melody Bryan at mbryan10@comcast.net to reserve your spot or for more information.

August 3, 2013 - Wool Applique Workshop
On Saturday, August 3 we are delighted to have a workshop with Denise Harkins who will teach wool applique. A duClay member, Becky Carter, has donated all of the wool fabric (thank you Becky!) needed for the class kits. There will be a few other items needed.  The workshop fee will be $5.00. It will be held at the Orange Park library and will start at 1PM.  More to come!

October 29, 2011 - Long May She Wave Needlebook workshop
We are excited to welcome Ellen Chester of With my Needle fame as she teaches a lovely class being cosponsored by duClay EGA and Azalea Sampler Guild.  The class uses 31 different stitches and  when completed is a tiny patriotic needlebook called Long May She Wave.

You can see a photo and read details about this class by clicking the link after Ellen's name above.  It is under the teaching pieces tab. As with all of Ellen's teaching pieces you must be a member of the class to obtain a kit and pattern.

The cost includes 6 hours of class/instruction time, lunch, teaching fee and a kit containing 32ct linen, silks and everything you need to stitch this needlebook. Cost for this workshop will be $100.

October 8, 2011 - A Study in Florentine/Bargello stitch
MEMBERSHIP IN DUCLAY IS NOT REQUIRED FOR THIS EVENT.
We have reserved a "study box" from EGA National which focuses on the Florentine/Bargello stitch.  We will  start at 10:30 and conclude around noon or 12:30 - we hope to have an informal exhibit of pieces which focus on the bargello, florentine, flame and irish stitch.  We will have coffee and sweets.  

Since this is our regular scheduled stitching day - please consider  having lunch and staying in Orange Park and stitching with us in the afternoon in the same room as the program. 

There are several options for lunch after the program. Honey B's Cafe is only 10 min. drive from the library and it is owned by the daughters of the owners of the famous "Sisters Tearoom" an Orange Park fixture for over 30 years.  The food is wonderful and they offer the same recipes for many dishes including their chicken salad and peanut butter pie. For those who prefer to stay in the vicinity of the library - there is a sandwich shop and Dairy Queen within walking distance of the library.
