<div style="text-align: justify;">
After our March business meeting, our member Pat, taught the group a folded and sewn flower pin. We didn't get a photo of Pat but here she is working the room.</div>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/38887234760/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0661"><img alt="IMG_0661" height="400" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4789/38887234760_488d4334d9_b.jpg" width="300" /></a><br />
This is Pat's sample. Isn't it darling?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/38887232540/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0675"><img alt="IMG_0675" height="400" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4784/38887232540_98c6e66732_b.jpg" width="300" /></a><br />
Very few supplies were needed for this project. Just a few charm squares, a needle and thread, a button, and a broach pin.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
duClay started 2018 with a big event - we hosted Betsy Morgan for 2 classes in late February. Betsy has announced her retirement in 2020 and we felt so fortunate to have her. She is a talented and dedicated educator and it shows in her classes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Our class projects were Maria Katarin's Stitching Reticule...</div>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/26825179188/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0539"><img alt="IMG_0539" height="300" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4788/26825179188_4107fb64a5_b.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
and Swan Bower. <br />
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/39986764644/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0610"><img alt="IMG_0610" height="400" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4800/39986764644_88b4286075_b.jpg" width="300" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
These are the two pieces that were assembled in class and required pre-stitching. Betsy has her own method of joining two the stitched front to the back and both projects used this method. One stitched linen to linen and the other was linen to silk. We also practiced several speciality stitches over the 3 days as well. </div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/39986767654/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0591"><img alt="IMG_0591" height="400" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4785/39986767654_4585a9b4ff_b.jpg" width="300" /></a><br />
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/40697000071/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0606"><img alt="IMG_0606" height="400" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4771/40697000071_8b80b2f651_b.jpg" width="300" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/40696999931/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0607"><img alt="IMG_0607" height="400" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4777/40696999931_967ea8eee8_b.jpg" width="300" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you've never taken a class with Betsy she has a teaching style that is very easy and encouraging. She continually walks the room, giving feedback and words of encouragement, and making it simple to ask a question. Her teaching style lends itself to be beginner friendly and her projects are interesting and unique which appeal to stitchers of all skill levels - even the most experienced. Our classes had stitchers who had never taken a class of this caliber and stitchers who have taken many, many, many classes like this. Both had a great experience!</div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/40697005951/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0554"><img alt="IMG_0554" height="300" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4784/40697005951_87e292035e_b.jpg" width="400" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/40697005681/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0555"><img alt="IMG_0555" height="300" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4776/40697005681_1738a109c9_b.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Maria Katrin's Stitching Reticule is named for her daughter and the motifs taken from an 1844 Mexican sampler in Betsy's collection. Betsy also shared bits of her inspiration for the Swan Bower project - motifs from two different samplers. She will eventually reproduce this one...</div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/26825157818/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0660"><img alt="IMG_0660" height="400" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4800/26825157818_0ff045bf77_b.jpg" width="300" /></a><br />
...and another motif came from a sampler she came across in her travels.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/25825689007/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0642"><img alt="IMG_0642" height="400" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4786/25825689007_1662e10bb2_b.jpg" width="300" /></a><br />
Betsy also taught her twisted cord method that she's been teaching her entire career.<br />
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/39986768204/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0587"><img alt="IMG_0587" height="300" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4783/39986768204_e9fa16fc28_b.jpg" width="400" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The projects are stunning projects and very different from each other. Here are a few pictures of Betsy's models. Several members completed finished the small for each class in class or overnight. We have a great group of stitchers and experienced finishers and we'll be seeing finishes of the other items in the coming months for some members. We can't wait! Betsy's instructions are detailed and she has thought of everything to make assembly problem free. As Carol P always says, just take it one step at a time and you'll be fine!</div>
</div>

Betsy shared she also sells the charts and instructions for her retired designs. You can see some of <a href="http://willinghandsstitching.blogspot.com/2011/02/retired-designs.html" target="_blank">her retired designs HERE</a>. Just simply send her an email and she will let you know the cost, etc. As time goes on, she may have more retired designs so please do check all her blog posts as the link above may not be most current.<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
We hope you enjoyed our recap of our wonderful days with Betsy! We also hope that it would inspire you to take a class or visit hour local EGA Chapter. If you're local to us, do check our older blog posts as well feel it would be clearly evident how any stitcher would benefit from membership. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
In December, we had our last event of 2017. It's an event that is very much looked forward to all year long. Our Christmas Party where we showcase what we have accomplished during the year. Everyone brings their finishes for the year and we get to ooh and aah and be inspired.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Our day started off with a luncheon at Ted's Montana Grill. There was talk of the holiday season, family, work and of course a lot of talk about our beloved needlework.</div>
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/27579877179/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0324"><img alt="IMG_0324" height="300" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4690/27579877179_9b238db061_b.jpg" width="400" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>

<div style="text-align: center;">
After lunch, we went back to our regular meeting spot and set up our show and tell tables with our needlework we brought to share. </div>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/24492426027/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0327"><img alt="IMG_0327" height="300" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4596/24492426027_a10e3cb971_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Each member got a chance to show what they worked on during the year and talk about any particular challenges or learnings.</div>

Everyone looks forward to the drawing for the WIP Challenge winner. This year Susan won. Susan lives in Pennsylvania so Melody gave her a call and put her on speaker phone so we could congratulate her! She actually answered the phone and the room cheered for her. Congratulations Susan!</div>

<i style="color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; text-align: justify;">*****</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px;">I </span><span style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px;">grew up in the suburbs of New York City and married my high school sweetheart . We have lived all over the country and have two children and two grandchildren. Even though we have lived in Florida longer than anywhere else New York will always be home. Before retiring and moving to St Johns, I worked as the Administrator in a physician office. </span><a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/36714431740/in/dateposted-public/" title="fullsizeoutput_177d"><img alt="fullsizeoutput_177d" height="466" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4425/36714431740_36da2f7869.jpg" width="500" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px;">My interest in cross stitch, sewing and knitting began when I was a teen and I was encouraged by an aunt and also a neighbor. But I became an avid stitcher while living in Colorado in the 1980s. There a neighbor introduced me to EGA and my horizons were expanded when I saw the beautiful work the women in both the Foothills and Colorado chapters were doing. </span><span style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px;">It is a wonderful way to meet people who share my interest when moving to a new city. </span><a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/36940606542/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0800"><img alt="IMG_0800" height="500" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4351/36940606542_446164403e.jpg" width="374" /></a> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px; text-align: start;">My favorite piece is usually what I am working on at the moment. I love needlepoint, quilting and cross stitch. A few of my my favorites designers are Blackbird Designs, Plum Street, Country Cottage, Little House, and Lizzie Kate.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/36714465610/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0802"><img alt="IMG_0802" height="500" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4417/36714465610_cf71d0d135.jpg" width="374" /></a> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px; text-align: start;">I have been able to participate in many Regional and National seminars and have done numerous group correspondence courses. Each class I have taken has expanded my knowledge and allowed me to meet many new people who have enriched my life. My all-time favorite teacher is Jody Adams. Her needlepoint designs were beautiful and challenging. She is sweet, fun and taught me to love making French knots. </span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px; text-align: start;">My other favorite hobbies are traveling in this country and abroad. I love snow skiing in the Rockies and snorkeling in the Caribbean, seeing Broadway shows in NYC and spending time in my favorite Italian city, Florence. </span></div>

In May our member Linda F from Central Florida came up to teach us a box finishing class. Specifically the <a href="http://inspiredneedle.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&keyword=chessie+%26+me+stitch+book" target="_blank">Chessie & Me book </a>finishes that are so popular. Cathy of the Inspired Needle ordered the cardboard books for us and members selected their own design for finishing. In April, we had everyone paint their boxes so they'd be ready to go. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Linda put together kits for us to include little pots of PVA glue to use.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/34619883476/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0560"><img alt="IMG_0560" height="500" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4193/34619883476_e482f5a3f4.jpg" width="375" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Everything you could imagine needing was provided.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Linda worked the room and helped, gave tips, and encouraged us all afternoon!</div>

In May, our Chapter was pleased and excited to host Janeann Sleeman for a needlepoint class. Janeann has taught for us before (see <a href="http://duclayega.blogspot.com/2016/07/easter-egg-class-with-janeanne-sleeman.html" target="_blank">here</a>, <a href="http://duclayega.blogspot.com/2015/07/fred-and-fiona.html" target="_blank">here</a>, <a href="http://duclayega.blogspot.com/2014/06/dazzling-delights.html" target="_blank">here</a>) and we were thrilled to have her back. Our class piece was this cute Blue Bunny. It finishes about 5" square.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/34173136402/in/album-72157680504478692/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="IMG_0526"><img alt="IMG_0526" height="500" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4182/34173136402_6b87d7ee1e.jpg" width="375" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is Janeann's finish. We didn't get a photo of it in the acrylic box that we all just loved! It was filled with eggs. Too cute!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/34173135272/in/album-72157680504478692/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="IMG_0531"><img alt="IMG_0531" height="500" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2884/34173135272_251bc19583.jpg" width="375" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Janeann led us through each section of the stitch guide and gave us plenty of tips along the way to improve as stitchers. It's those little things that have big impact and really make taking a class extra fun!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
In March our chapter had a Taste of Basket Making workshop led by our member Suzy. This is the first scheduled activity in a year full of fun things for the chapter member to participate in and learn from. Suzy saw a basket like this somewhere in a shop and was able to come up with a small and quick project to teach to the members. </div>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/33159889631/in/album-72157680027420853/" title="IMG_0464"><img alt="IMG_0464" height="500" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/671/33159889631_c82598be02.jpg" width="375" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
Our kits were thoughtfully put together by Suzy.<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/32476659083/in/album-72157680027420853/" title="IMG_0488"><img alt="IMG_0488" height="500" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2934/32476659083_87c4fd5049.jpg" width="375" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
We immediately got to work, starting at the bottom. Suzy was constantly on the move ensuring we all got a great start and built a good base for our baskets.<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/33291237745/in/album-72157680027420853/" title="IMG_0492"><img alt="IMG_0492" height="500" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3869/33291237745_1e51514cc6.jpg" width="375" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/33132661422/in/album-72157680027420853/" title="IMG_0472"><img alt="IMG_0472" height="500" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3944/33132661422_c7d1b37003.jpg" width="375" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />

Suzy is an accomplished basket maker. Here are two baskets she made that she used to carry supplies. Aren't they gorgeous?<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/32448246824/in/album-72157680027420853/" title="IMG_0473"><img alt="IMG_0473" height="500" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3682/32448246824_e56a795575.jpg" width="375" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
Suzy is multi-talented. She also hooked the piece attached to this large basket.<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/33135897682/in/album-72157680027420853/" title="IMG_0474"><img alt="IMG_0474" height="500" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/772/33135897682_31fce52d3e.jpg" width="375" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
Most finished their project by the end of the afternoon.<br />

JoyceAnne brought hers in the following month showing how she lined the basket. It was absolutely beautiful!<br />

Linda is an EGA Master Craftsman in Crewel and we were so fortunate to have her teach a workshop for us! She is also the organizing President of the Canapy Oaks Chapter in Tallahassee.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/31890550304/in/album-72157678213411421/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="IMG_0429"><img alt="IMG_0429" height="500" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/464/31890550304_a302666cda.jpg" width="375" /></a></div>
Linda started off my answering the question "What is crewel"? It's not a time period or embroidery but a thread. It's traced back to Exodus in the bible. Crewel thread is a loosely twisted double ply thread. Crewel was popular in 17th century England as crewel threads were beginning to be mass produced then. She also gave an overview of the differences in crewelwork from the 17th(highly stylized) and 18th century(more realistic). Very interesting lecture!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
.
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/31919791143/in/album-72157678213411421/" title="IMG_0457"><img alt="IMG_0457" height="500" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/524/31919791143_7300e2e26f.jpg" width="375" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script> </div>
Linda taught the group the basics of crewel with this eyeglass case project above. Loads of fun!<br />
<br />
Linda also graciously brought some of her crewel projects that she designed and worked on for her Master Craftsman Certification. Stunning work!<br />

This is one of Linda's WIPs that she brought to share with us. This is based on the first scene of the Bayou Tapestry which is from about 1050. It's not sure who stitched the original tapestry but it was preserved in the basement of the Bayou Cathedral. It tells the story of the Normand Invasion when France went to England and took over the throne. </div>

In December, we hosted our Annual Christmas Luncheon which is always one of the favorite member gatherings of the year. This year we had a member come down from Atlanta to attend! We met at a local tea shop for tea and then retired to the library for the balance of the festivities.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's always so much fun to see what our members have stitched for our annual exchange. It does not have to be an ornament.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

In October, Suzy and Melody presented a Taste Of workshop on Victorian Cross Stitch. These Taste of Workshops are instructional workshops with a small project for little cost. It gives our members a taste of a new technique, etc without having to make a large investment. In terms of techniques learned, it gives the member a small project to master the skill before going on to a larger project.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
This months workshop was inspired by an article in Early American Life shown below. This time, though, the workshop included an <u>absolutely delightful</u> skit presented by Suzy and Melody where Suzy portrayed Martha Washington and Melody was her handmaiden Mellie. The scene was set in the time period of March 1774, between the time of the Boston Tea Party and the First Continental Congress, at Mount Vernon. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/31277459030/in/dateposted-public/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="IMG_0144"><img alt="IMG_0144" height="400" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/650/31277459030_0a70e77ce8.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica"; font-size: 14px;">Martha and Mellie were dressed in period appropriate attire which even included ladies pockets. There were historical events mentioned during the skit and an emphasis was placed on the cushion design and colors that are believed to be actually designed by Martha Washington and are found on chairs found at Mount Vernon. Following the skit there was a discussion with the group and further information was presented that tied the Washingtons to the Ball family here in Jacksonville and to the Wakulla Lodge in Crawfordville, Florida.</span></div>

Some background and info connecting the Washingtons to Jacksonville:<br />
<blockquote class="" style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px;" type="cite">
<div class="">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Martha Dandridge (later Washington) was first married to Daniel Custis who died after seven years of marriage. They had four children. Two died before the age of five. One died at seventeen and the oldest served under George Washington and died at the age of twenty two. Since her husband had no will, Martha was the executor of his estate and was in charge of managing the plantation where they lived, called White House. It was rare for a woman in that time period to be in control of such affairs and to own property. Evidently she did a great job and was well respected by merchants in London. She and George courted for about a year and were then married. Research indicated that she was happy in both her marriages. Apparently she and George fell in "love at first sight "! She remained involved in managing household affairs and became quite accomplished at fine needlework and knitting. She also loved being involved in daily meal planning and developing recipes. During the Revolution, Martha joined George at many encampments for months at a time. She was a strong support for him as well as for the soldiers when morale was low. Martha and George had no children of their own, but were very involved with raising grandchildren and provided financial support in the Dandridge, Custis, and Washington families. </div>
<span class="" style="display: inline !important; float: none;"></span><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="" style="display: inline !important; float: none;">Evidently, Martha's reputation through the years even influenced a hotel here in Jacksonville! The Martha Washington Hotel opened in 1938. It was originally a mansion in Riverside constructed in 1911, located at 1636 King Street, about two blocks in front of St. Vincent's Hospital. It was built for lumberman Bryan W. Blount. When the hotel opened, it was unusual because it was for women only. It is believed the name of Martha Washington is in part because of Martha and part because of the Hotel George Washington in downtown Jacksonville. The female-only concept didn't last long. During WW II the hotel housed various borders including the families of servicemen. The hotel closed in 1977, was to be demolished, but was fortunately saved by the Riverside Avondale Preservation (RAP) society. </span></div>

Jessie Dew Ball was born in 1884 at Cressfield on Ball’s Creek, Northumberland County, Virginia. Her family was one of Virginia’s finest: George Washington’s mother, Mary, was a relative. Educated in county schools and with one year at Farmville State College, she began to teach as soon as she graduated. She received a Life Certificate to teach any grade in Virginia, a certificate which was later accepted by the state of California when she moved there with her family at the age of twenty-four. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
In November, our Chapter had the pleasure of hosting Kathy Rees of <a href="http://www.needledelights.com/" target="_blank">Needle Delights Originals</a>. This is Kathy's second visit to our Chapter and we consider her a good friend. This time, she we were all stitching one of her <a href="http://www.needledelights.com/index.php/store/details/C2/8.html" target="_blank">ornaments</a>.</div>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/31535060571/in/album-72157677851994325/" title="IMG_0303"><img alt="IMG_0303" height="320" src="https://c4.staticflickr.com/1/685/31535060571_7a910e9cde_c.jpg" width="240" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
Kathy brought a variety of thread and metallic threads for us to choose from. The photo below is what was left over after everyone had made their selections. Lots of variety!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/31504723472/in/album-72157677851994325/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="IMG_0305"><img alt="IMG_0305" height="500" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/773/31504723472_812b8d5f07.jpg" width="375" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is Kathy's sample of what we were stitching.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is a larger grouping of some of her ornaments. They're a great project for learning a new stitch and how to compensate that stitch. Plus they stitch up so fast it's almost instant gratification!</div>

Our members got right to work. Of course, there was plenty of socializing going on too!</div>

Two weeks ago, duClay hosted it's first ever retreat. We celebrated the sizzlin' days of summer because July in Florida is always sizzlin. We set up at the <a href="http://innonthelakes.com/" target="_blank">Inn on the Lakes</a> which is nestled between two lakes (Lake Jackson and Little Lake Jackson) in Sebring. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/28901732301/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_1516"><img alt="IMG_1516" height="300" src="https://c6.staticflickr.com/9/8204/28901732301_db84332402_z.jpg" width="400" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script></div>
The views were tropical and lush even though outside temps were around 100 degrees during the day.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/28361452833/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_1515"><img alt="IMG_1515" height="300" src="https://c2.staticflickr.com/9/8515/28361452833_ebb682715f_z.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Inn has a world class restaurant located on property, <a href="http://chicanesrestaurant.com/" target="_blank">Chicanes</a>, that was available for all three meals. In other words, members could check into the hotel and never leave until the retreat was over if that is what they chose! The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="IMG_1507" height="300" src="https://c8.staticflickr.com/9/8692/28901672031_28cdcea638_z.jpg" width="400" /><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/28901672111/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_1505"><img alt="IMG_1505" height="300" src="https://c8.staticflickr.com/9/8705/28901672111_e47fe60dab_z.jpg" width="400" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script></div>
The weekend activities included a Pirates Booty game that was only possible due the following sponsors. We cannot thank these businesses enough for their generosity. Please do show our appreciation by shopping with them for your needlework needs.<br />

Since our sponsors were so generous, we played Pirates Booty instead of drawing for door prizes. Pirates Booty is similar to the game often played at Christmas parties where everyone is given a number, selects a gift (in this case a treasure) or steals a treasure that someone else has already opened. After 3 steals, the treasure was retired and no longer up for grabs. Which is a good thing since there was a LOT of stealing going on!<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
We also had a mid-year drawing for a gift card to <a href="http://inspiredneedle.com/" target="_blank">Inspired Needle</a> for the <a href="http://duclayega.blogspot.com/p/2014-wip-challenge.html" target="_blank">WIP Challenge</a>. Anyone who had finished a project this year that was on their Challenge list were entered. Theresa R was the lucky winner!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
This less than stellar photo shows the beautiful sunsets we were treated to from our stitching room.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Another activity was a beaded scissor fob taught by our very own Melody.</div>

In July our Chapter hosted Janeann Sleeman at the historic Bensel House for another needlepoint class. Janeann has taught three classes for us before and it is always a pleasure to have her back. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/28493228076/in/dateposted-public/" title="image3"><img alt="image3" height="266" src="https://c5.staticflickr.com/9/8746/28493228076_fd61be01cc_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">This time the project was a darling stand up Easter Egg. <span style="background-color: white; font-size: 16px;"> Janeann taught the first in a series of 3 Easter egg canvases by <a href="http://www.laborsofloveneedlepoint.com/" target="_blank">Labors of Love</a> in Atlanta who also developed the stitch guide. Janeann's talents are being recognized by many of the nations top designers and we are so lucky to have her teach for our chapter.</span></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/28493226106/in/dateposted-public/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;" title="image1"><img alt="image1" height="400" src="https://c3.staticflickr.com/9/8618/28493226106_723ab7985c_n.jpg" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The kits were full of a variety of colorful hreads!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/27909761053/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_2039"><img alt="IMG_2039" height="400" src="https://c6.staticflickr.com/9/8673/27909761053_bf1242d432_n.jpg" width="400" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The class participants were maxed out at what Janeann allows which permits a lot of individual attention and instruction to meet the needs of the members in attendance. The members who attended had a wide range of needlepoint skills and it is the perfect setting to learn a lot of tips from Janeann. </div>

Yesterday after our monthly business meeting, our Chapter members shared their Antique Needlework items. Our members brought a variety of items to share - from quilts, to needlework accessories, to antique handmade baskets to antique samplers. The collection was very diverse. Each member shared their item and gave a brief background on how it was acquired. It was wonderful to hear of the personal connections and stories behind each antique. Some were of friends, other of family - all was interesting to hear. A full set of the photos can be seen <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/albums/72157667472572620" target="_blank">here in our Flickr album</a>.</div>

On March 19th the duClay Chapter hosted our annual Spring Tea and Stitching at the beautiful and historic Bensel House on the St. Johns River. Members brought their own tea pots and cups along with a great selection of teas to share. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Brenda from Fancy J Catering, who is a great friend to duClay, provided a selection of tea type foods such as finger sandwiches and scones with clotted cream.</div>

The group enjoyed several hours of stitching and fellowship. The weather was beautiful and some even sat outside to enjoy the beautiful view of the river. Cathy from Inspired Needle was able to attend. It's always wonderful to see and visit with her!<br />

In March our Chapter hosted another Taste of Workshop - this time English Paper Piecing (EPP). Our instructor for the day was Denise Harkins who has <a href="http://duclayega.blogspot.com/2013/08/taste-of-wool.html" target="_blank">previously taught one of our Taste of Workshops</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/26178274055/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_1742"><img alt="IMG_1742" height="320" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1636/26178274055_0bc9966f69_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
EPP most commonly uses hexagons and our workshop did the same. The class project was a cute little clock with hexagons on three sides.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/26152311636/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_1756"><img alt="IMG_1756" height="320" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1668/26152311636_4496f77b36_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The kits Denise put together were so cute!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/26085808972/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_1749"><img alt="IMG_1749" height="320" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1702/26085808972_7846e61e76_n.jpg" width="240" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Denise brought a couple of examples as to how EPP can be used. Isn't this pincushion in the silver baby cup just precious?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/26085809272/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_1748"><img alt="IMG_1748" height="320" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1635/26085809272_f64ed3d4f4_n.jpg" width="240" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
EPP is most commonly used in quilting - it's a great way to create intricate blocks that are very precise.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Members had lots and lots of mini charm square to choose their color palette from. Both traditional and modern fabric choices were available.</div>

A huge thank you to <a href="https://cinnamonsquilts.rainadmin.com/" target="_blank">Cinnamons Quilt Shop</a> for accommodating us - we had a last minute venue problem and they were able to help us out!</div>

A really popular and well attended event our guild holds is our Taste of workshops. We've had quite a few and in February we had a Taste of Hardanger. Member JoyceAnne taught this workshop. We try to keep the cost of these workshops low and this one was actually free. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/26085787282/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_1646"><img alt="IMG_1646" height="320" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1546/26085787282_b8a13ecb31_n.jpg" width="240" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
JoyceAnne put together kits for the members who signed up and designed a small project for the workshop. Since these are Taste of workshops, we like the projects to be small but enough for someone to learn a new skill and be sure they enjoy it before they invest in a larger project. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/26111900441/in/dateposted-public/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="IMG_1644"><img alt="IMG_1644" height="320" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1670/26111900441_d12d7a4e25_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is JoyceAnne's sample of the class project. Very cute and would make a great ornament!</div>

She also brought a couple of other simple hardanger projects with different finishes. It's often so helpful to see a completed projects in terms of gaining some inspiration.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Unfortunately, we didn't get a lot of pictures of the class itself or the members projects. Thank you JoyceAnne for a great workshop! </div>

If you're in our area and not a member of our guild, we'd LOVE to have you come visit. If you're not in our area, we'd really encourage you to seek out your local Chapter. EGA is a good thing!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
On December 12th, duClay Chapter celebrated the holidays, the end of the year and the wrap up of the 2015 WIP Challenge. We were presented with a problem a few weeks beforehand in that our group has grown too large to host the event at our beloved Bensel House. Thankfully, Melody had a solution and we moved the event to the historic <a href="http://www.riverdaleinn.com/" target="_blank">RiverDale Inn</a> which is an absolutely charming locally owned victorian style inn.</div>

Kerrie started His Eye is on the Sparrow Christmas 2014 and finished in September. She's knows for loving the big projects! Linda (above) was our WIP Challenge Winner. The day was delightful! We'll let the pictures speak for themselves but without a doubt, we are a talented bunch! The photos that follow are WIP Challenge pieces, exchange items, in progress projects, or other finishes for 2015. A complete set of all the pics taken during the luncheon can be found <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/albums/72157662351494069" target="_blank">HERE</a>.</div>

We're catching up on documenting our Chapter Activities for October and November. We didn't get many photos but we had a great time and learned a lot.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
In October, we had a mini-workshop on learning Twisted Cording a New Way. Ellen facilitated this workshop. Most of us were familiar with cording (we made it for our Jane Timmers classes) but this was new to us. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/21375674743/in/dateposted-public/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="IMG_1112"><img alt="IMG_1112" height="320" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/771/21375674743_56de5e5c16_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/21996818465/in/dateposted-public/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="IMG_1116"><img alt="IMG_1116" height="320" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/637/21996818465_8536c50e02_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Our typical cording is the pink and the cording Ellen showed us how to make is the cream.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="IMG_1114" height="320" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1641/24028426921_473f666e02_n.jpg" width="240" /><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In November, we had our members bring in their frames and stands they use. Each member gave an overview of the product, their likes and dislikes as well as the price points. After the presentation, members were invited to take some stitches using the stands and frames in which they had some interest.</div>

In September our Chapter also had the pleasure of a lecture and trunk show from Kathy Rees of <a href="http://www.needledelights.com/index.php/index.html">Needle Delights</a>. Needle Delights was originally a needlework store in Gulf Breeze, Florida founded by Kathy's parents. In 2004, when the shop was badly damaged by Hurricane Ivan, Kathy's parents retired and Kathy re-opened the shop in Pensacola the next year. Kathy eventually closed the shop to devote her efforts to teaching and designing full time. Kathy is one of the premier designers in the counted needlepoint world and we were very excited to have this opportunity to spend the day with her!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Kathy lectured on such topics as her own personal needlework history, color theory and where she draws her inspiration as well as behind the scenes information on what it's like to be a needlework designer and all that it entails. Fascinating! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/21375629273/in/album-72157659555641745/" title="IMG_1094"><img alt="IMG_1094" height="320" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/771/21375629273_9d15aed191_n.jpg" width="240" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
At the end of September, duClay hosted Lauren Sauer for Along the River James class. This project was originally introduced at Williamsburg in 2012 and our Chapter was delighted to host Lauren for the weekend. The class was held at the historic Bensel House at the generosity of the Lynch Family. The Bensel House sits directly on the St. Johns River and was a wonderful location for our class!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
On August 1st, duClay Chapter was pleased to host Katie Puckett of KISS Wool Studios for another Taste Of workshop - A Taste of Embellishment and Surface Embroidery. Since Katie is a renowned rug hooker, designer and wool dyer, the project presented was a pincushion made out of wool.</div>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/21175404528/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0740"><img alt="IMG_0740" height="400" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5657/21175404528_2ba4aae4ea.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Katie brought two pincushions that she made for inspiration.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/21363283475/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0738"><img alt="IMG_0738" height="320" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5738/21363283475_3cef9b4915_n.jpg" width="320" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/21176373629/in/dateposted-public/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;" title="IMG_0736"><img alt="IMG_0736" height="320" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5687/21176373629_602ab0b9dc_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
There was a choice between two colorways - Katie had prepped the pieces so we could go home with a finished project! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/21175177260/in/dateposted-public/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="IMG_0734"><img alt="IMG_0734" height="320" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5814/21175177260_948a673140_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Katie led us through the process step by step. First was to page through the many books she brought for inspiration and ideas for stitches to use for surface embroidery. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/21175174450/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0742"><img alt="IMG_0742" height="320" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5741/21175174450_56fac3dcff_n.jpg" width="320" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/21175403068/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0743"><img alt="IMG_0743" height="320" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/573/21175403068_06f6e631a4_n.jpg" width="320" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
Then we got started!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/21175403068/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0743"><img alt="IMG_0743" height="320" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/573/21175403068_06f6e631a4_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Our members brought a wide variety of embellishments and shared with each other so the options really were limitless.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/21175171890/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0748"><img alt="IMG_0748" height="320" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5631/21175171890_c5af541d9f_n.jpg" width="320" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
A couple of in progress photos.<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/21176362479/in/dateposted-public/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="IMG_0762"><img alt="IMG_0762" height="320" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5801/21176362479_cdd48bae8e_n.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</div>
Here are several of the finished projects - made in just a couple of hours. You'll notice that many of them have pins in them. The pins were made for us as favors from our very own Becky. Thank you Becky! <br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Our Chapter was delighted to have JaneAnn Sleeman come in and teach a needlepoint class for us on the 11th. Fred and Fiona is the name of the project - it's a delightful patriotic piece. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you've never taken a class from JaneAnn, you're certainly missing out. She is full of ideas, tips and information about fibers. It's always a delight to have her teach a class. </div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/19669497609/in/dateposted-public/" title="DSC05281"><img alt="DSC05281" height="300" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/374/19669497609_13af643286_z.jpg" width="400" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is the unadorned canvas. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/19669500579/in/dateposted-public/" title="DSC05275"><img alt="DSC05275" height="300" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/477/19669500579_1355aa4131_z.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There was a wide selection of fibers used - wool, silk and metallics along with some glittery ribbon.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/19861043821/in/dateposted-public/" title="DSC05274"><img alt="DSC05274" height="400" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3820/19861043821_431b9746c7_z.jpg" width="300" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
JaneAnn is hands on and often demonstrates techniques.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915393@N08/19669499099/in/dateposted-public/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC05278"><img alt="DSC05278" height="300" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/309/19669499099_676607d7fd_z.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Laying threads correctly can make a big impact on a project. Many teachers assume you know the basics. JaneAnn is really good about asking if anyone needs a demonstration and ensures the beginners have a good foundation. </div>

Lunch was catered by Brenda from the Flying J. Even though there was only 6 or 7 of us she always brings a spread of food. Since it's so hot, lunch was cold and it definitely hit the spot.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Brenda can never bring just one dessert. No one complains about that!</div>
